Rangers are the Scottish Third Division champions following Queen's Park's defeat this afternoon.

Rangers have been crowned champions of the Scottish Third Division after Queen's Park slipped to defeat this afternoon.

The Gers will now play in Scotland's third tier at the first time of asking next season following their promotion today.

Rangers looked to have denied themselves the chance of going up this weekend after suffering a second consecutive goalless draw following a 0-0 stalemate with Montrose in the early kickoff at Links Park.

However, the Spiders surrendered the title after a second-half Stuart Leslie penalty earned Elgin City a surprise 1-0 win at Hampden Park.

The result means that Queen's Park cannot catch the Light Blues and gifts Ally McCoist his first piece of silverware as Rangers manager.
