How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Southampton

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday as they look to arrest a run of three games without a win.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have actually only won two of their eight competitive games this season, their most recent setback coming on Tuesday night when they were beaten by League Two side Colchester United on penalties.

Southampton, meanwhile, are currently 13th in the table having taken seven points from their first six games but they have won four of their last six in all competitions, with all four wins coming away from home.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Spurs could line up for Saturday's showdown.

Hugo Lloris is expected to return in goal for Spurs having missed last weekend's game with Leicester City to be at the birth of his third child.

In front of the Frenchman the back four from last Saturday's game should largely remain intact, although Argentinian defender Juan Foyth could replace Serge Aurier at right-back following his recovery from injury.

Midfielders Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele were rested in midweek and Moussa Sissoko is fit, leaving Pochettino a dilemma in midfield over which formation to go for.

The former Saints boss is likely to opt for a standard 4-2-3-1, with Winks and Ndombele taking up the defensive duties behind the attacking trio of Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Erik Lamela.

Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura did start in midweek but both were poor, missing key chances and failing to operate at their usual high standard, meaning that they are likely to drop to the bench for Saturday's fixture.

Up front, Harry Kane already has five goals for Spurs this season and he should return to the first team having been rested for the Colchester game.
