Heurelho Gomes considering Brazil return

Heurelho Gomes says that he is hopeful of securing a move to Brazil when his contract with Tottenham Hotspur expires next summer.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has said that he favours a move back to his native Brazil when his contract expires at White Hart Lane next summer.

The 32-year-old joined the club in 2008, but spent last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim after slipping behind Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel in competition for the number one jersey.

"I need to start playing again," The Mirror quotes him as saying.

"I don't want to make a hasty decision but I'm more open now to Brazil as I have been playing in Europe for 10 years."

Gomes was on the bench for Spurs as they lost 1-0 at home to Newcastle United yesterday.
