Juventus reportedly identify Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele as a possible transfer target in January, with the Belgian's contract due to expire next summer.

Juventus are considering a January approach for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele, according to reports in Italy.

Massimiliano Allegri is understood to be eager to bolster his midfield options when the transfer window reopens, having seen Sami Khedira and Emre Can suffer injury problems so far this season.

The Serie A champions have often been left with only three fit central midfielders as a result, and Corriere di Torino reports that they want reinforcements for the second half of the campaign.

Dembele has been identified as a possible target, with Allegri hopeful that the Belgian could be available for a cut-price fee.

The 31-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season, and with no extension yet agreed Spurs could look to cash in on him in January rather than losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Dembele will be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs in the New Year, although Juventus could look to beat any other suitors to his signature by paying to sign him in January.
