Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has admitted that Michu is in his selection thoughts after a sensational start to life at Swansea City.
Michu tops the Premier League scoring charts with 12 goals since making a £2.2m summer switch from Rayo Vallecano.
Del Bosque revealed that he is tracking the uncapped forward's progress with a view to including him in a future squad.
He told reporters: "Michu has long been performing at a high level and what he has accomplished in England is not easy.
"I think it is a good time for all the forwards. Alvaro Negredo and Roberto Soldado are still scoring goals. There is Iago Aspas and Michu too, there are a lot of players."
Michu helped Michael Laudrup's side book a place in their first ever League Cup semi-final on Wednesday when they edged Middlesbrough by a single goal.
