Toronto play out stalemate with DC United

Toronto draw 0-0 with DC United to remain 11 points off the top of the Eastern Conference.

Tornoto FC have kept in touch with Eastern Conference leaders DC United after holding them to a goalless draw at BMO Field.

The Canadians started brightly and could have been ahead inside the opening minutes as Sebastian Giovinco's shot was punched away by Bill Hamid.

Toronto continued to push for a breakthrough, with Jozy Altidore being denied before Luis Silva and Nick DeLeon had efforts blocked just after the half-hour mark.

On the hour mark, Giovinco again caused problems for the DC backline, but was unable to beat Hamid as his low shot was saved.

The ex-Juventus star again saw a lot shot tipped away by Hamid, before saving low down again to the former Sunderland player.

Toronto remain third in the Eastern Conference, 11 points behind DC.
