James Tomkins disappointed with Everton defeat with West Ham United

West Ham United defender James Tomkins reveals that the team were gutted with the way that they lost to Everton in their Premier League clash at Goodison Park.

West Ham United defender James Tomkins has admitted that he and his teammates were disappointed with the manner of their 2-1 defeat to Everton.

The Hammers fell behind to a goal from Romelu Lukaku, but battled back through a strike from Mauro Zarate.

However, the Toffees won the game on the counter-attack as Leon Osman found the net in the 74th minute.

Tomkins told the club's official website: "When we got back into the game and made it 1-1, we looked the stronger team so we're disappointed to lose it in the end. The lads gave it all they had and towards the end we tried to play off Andy [Carroll].

"We showed a good effort and on most days we would have gone on from making it 1-1 to winning the game. It wasn't to be and it's a hard one to take."

Sam Allardyce's side are sixth in the Premier League following their loss at Goodison Park.
