Great Britain remain in contention for a semi-final place in the ATP Cup after beating the USA 2-1 in their final game of Group C.

Great Britain rounded off their ATP Cup group stage with a 2-1 victory over the USA as their bid to reach the semi-finals remains alive.

The Brits had previously opened Group C with a 2-1 win over Germany before falling to defeat to the same scoreline against Canada, leaving their semi-final hopes in the balance.

However, Dan Evans - who had already beaten Jan-Lennard Struff and Denis Shapovalov - kicked off proceedings against the USA with a 6-4 7-6 win over John Isner to maintain his 100% singles record.

GB would be forced into another deciding doubles match, though, with Cameron Norrie making it three defeats from three after going down 6-7 6-3 1-6 to Taylor Fritz.

The USA were on the brink of victory in the doubles encounter between Fritz and Isner and Evans and Jamie Murray, but GB rallied to take a 6-7 7-5 10-8 victory at the Sydney Super Dome.

Speaking to the press after the battle, Murray said: "We were just hustling. We just kept saying, 'Just try to get the ball back in play, start the point', and tried to use our skills after that.

"We played an amazing point to break back at 4-2, got a bit of momentum and played a great [match] tie-break, which is ultimately what it comes down to so many times."

GB must hope that Germany beat Canada to book their semi-final showdown with Russia, while Spain and Poland will be locking horns in the other clash in the final four.
