Good morning ladies and gentlemen and thanks for joining us on what promises to be another pulsating day of the Commonwealth Games.

The men's marathon is underway in the heart of Glasgow folks and this man, Steven Way, is among the participants. In 2007, the runner weighed some 16 stone and smoked over 20 cigarettes every day. Today, he is bidding for a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games. On behalf of the Sports Mole team I duff my cap to you, sir.

Euan Burton has reveled in the "special moment" of coming out of retirement to win gold for Scotland in his Commonwealth Games judo event. The Scot's flag bearer returned to the sport in order to compete at the Games following a disappointing second-round exit in the London Olympics two years ago.

We reckon that if it didn't happen last season it won't happen at all, mate.

Sports Mole's very own Neil Wilkes is up in Glasgow as the weather descends into what we typically associate with Scotland. It's getting messy over at the National Hockey Centre as Scotland's women trail Australia 6-0. They'll need Malaysia to do them a big favour by preventing an England victory. That game begins at 11am.

Peter Kennaugh has admitted that winning the Isle of Man's first silver medal in cycling at the Commonwealth Games feels "pretty special". Kennaugh finished behind New Zealand's Thomas Scully in the men's points race to become the first Manx cyclist to seal a second-placed podium finish at the Games.

It was a one-two for distance-running giants Kenya, while Australia's Jess Trengove completed the podium.

Looking ahead to today's cycling events, the Isle of Man would have been hoping to add to their medal count today following Peter Kennaugh's silver in the points race yesterday. However, Jonny Bellis has announced that he has pulled out of the scratch race with an ongoing knee injury.

MEDAL! It's been a good morning already for Australia, with a gold and a bronze from the marathon events, and now they've got another third-place finish. He's said that it "doesn't get much better".

In the women's marathon, Louise Damen was England's highest-placed finisher, coming in seventh with a time of 2:32.59. She admits that she's already looking ahead to the Olympics in two years.

Earlier, we told you about Jazz Carlin's new Commonwealth Games record in the 800m freestyle. The Welsh swimmer spoke to Sports Mole's Danielle Joynson following her heat.

The rugby sevens quarter-finals have been taking place at Ibrox this morning, and it's not been going well for the Brits. Wales threw away a 14-point lead to lose to Australia earlier, and England are out as well, following a 15-14 defeat to Samoa.

England's Aimee Willmott secured a place in the final of the women's 200m individual medley this morning. The 21-year-old narrowly missed out on gold in the 400m event earlier this week is expecting another close contest in the final later today.

RUGBY SEVENS UPDATE: More bad news for the home nations in the rugby sevens. England and Wales both lost their quarter-finals earlier today, and now Scotland have followed, losing 35-12 to South Africa. That means that New Zealand will face Australia, and Samoa will take on South Africa in the semi-finals.

The first athletics events at Hampden Park will be getting underway shortly, with a number of qualifiers and heats scheduled for this afternoon. Scottish Athletics shared this image of the stadium on the Twitter feed.

Of course, two athletics medals have already been handed out in the marathon events this morning. England's Steven Way hopes that his performance in the men's event will inspire coach potatoes to take up running.

England's women's hockey team beat Malaysia 5-0 earlier today to maintain their unbeaten start to the contest. Forward Ellie Watton has said that the win was the result of a "great team performance", but coach Danny Kerry believes that the team will need to improve for their game against Australia tomorrow.

There's good news for England in the athletics as Adam Gemili has coasted through his heat in the 100m. Richard Kilty is also through after finishing joint second in his heat, but Harry Aikines-Aryeetey will have to wait to see if he goes through after finishing third.

Well all of the 100m heats are over now and there's good news for Aikines-Aryeetey as he is one of the fastest losers, so all three England sprinter are through to tomorrow's semi-finals.

Here is our report on England's latest victory, which brings them to 20 golds and back level with Australia.

We also have reaction from Denise Lewis, who was very impressed with Bianca Williams's effort in the 100m heats.

MEDAL! Well, England weren't level for long. Jess Varnish takes bronze in her minor medal final in the women's track sprint at the velodrome but - of course, as it was two Australians competing in the final - Stephanie Morton's gold against her compatriot Anna Meares sees them move back ahead with 21 to England's 20.

100% of the English entrants to the 400m have also reached the semi-finals. Kelly Massey, Shana Cox and Margaret Adeoye will all line up in the semis on Monday having successfully got through their respective heats.

GOLD! It's another one for England, and boy was that one close. Laura Trott just, and I mean just, beats Elinor Barker of Wales in the 25km points race. They were level on points, but the Englishwoman took it by virtue of beating her opponent in the final sprint. Report of the race up shortly.

We have some reaction for you from Team England boxer Warren Baister following his win over Steven Ward to reach the quarter-finals of the heavyweight competition.

The pool is about ready now for the evening action, with some real chance of medals for England today.

Australia are cleaning up at the moment! To add to Archbold's win, they have taken two medals in the pool - Belinda Hocking in the 200m backstroke and James Magnussen in the 100m freestyle - with Matthew Glaetzer just pipping the keirin final on the line. They suddenly have a very strong lead in the medal table.

That's all from me this evening, folks. Simon Sinclair is here to guide you through the rest of the evening's action, with plenty more to come from the pool. Over to you Simon.
