Luke Joyce: 'Accrington Stanley can avoid drop'

Luke Joyce insists that Accrington Stanley can pick up enough points from their remaining games to stay in the Football League.

Accrington Stanley midfielder Luke Joyce has insisted that he and his teammates can "drag" themselves away from relegation trouble in the closing stages of the League Two season.

The Reds captain has called for consistency among his players ahead of their trip to Northampton Town on Saturday.

"It could go down to the wire," PA Sport quotes Joyce as saying. "Hopefully we can drag ourselves out of it before the last couple of games.

"It's changing every week. That's how tight it is, teams are switching positions every week.

"Whoever is the most consistent will be the teams who can stay clear."

Accrington's five points in their last three games have lifted them to 22nd, just outside the relegation spots.
