AJ Auxerre 2-0 Valenciennes FC

Auxerre win for the first time in 14 games, beating Valenciennes 2-0 at Stade de l'Abbe-Deschamps.

AJ Auxerre have ended their run of 13 winless games with a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Valenciennes FC.

Kamel Chafni opened the scoring after 25 minutes with his first goal since August.

The 29-year-old midfielder was sent through one-on-one and cooly slotted past Nicolas Penneteau.

Dennis Oliech, returning to the side after being dropped for the 1-0 defeat to Toulouse, vindicated his selection by sealing the win 24 minutes from time with a fizzing left-footed strike from 25 yards.

Despite the win, Laurent Fournier's side remain bottom but are just three points from safety.
