Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger draws positives from Champions League heartbreak

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that there are positives to draw from his side's Champions League exit.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his disappointment at being eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Monaco, but found positives to draw from his team's performance.

The Gunners bowed out of the competition at the last-16 phase on away goals, with a 2-0 win in the second leg not enough to overturn the 3-1 deficit from the first.

"I am very disappointed to go out tonight. But there were lots of positives," The Mirror quotes Wenger as saying.

"It is important we want to win the next game. We knew before the game. We looked at the numbers and we had 98% chances to be out but we fought.

"Overall the situation is very disappointing. If you just look at the game it is very positive. The game could have been over at half time because of the chances we had."

Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey were on target for the Gunners in France, but the third goal that would have sent them through to the quarter-finals proved elusive.
