Arsenal trio return to training ahead of new Premier League season

Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny all take part in Arsenal training for the first time since returning from their extended summer breaks.

Arsenal have welcomed Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Mesut Ozil back to training after their extended summer breaks.

The trio, who were given extra time off after their Euro 2016 exertions, are each likely to form part of the Gunners' starting lineup when back to peak fitness.

All three are expected to miss this weekend's Premier League opener against Liverpool, with boss Arsene Wenger confirming earlier this week that more time is needed before they can be thrown back into the mix.

An injury picked up by Gabriel Paulista in Arsenal's final pre-season outing of the summer could change Wenger's plans somewhat, however, as a lack of senior options at the back may see Koscielny handed an instant return to the side.

Jack Wilshere also took part in training, despite also being ruled out of Sunday's meeting with Liverpool through injury.
