Arsene Wenger expects Jack Wilshere to face West Ham United

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Jack Wilshere should be fit in time for the start of the new Premier League season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Jack Wilshere should be fit in time for their Premier League opener against West Ham United next week.

The midfielder missed the Gunners' Community Shield victory over Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday due to an injury that he picked up in training the day before.

Wenger has played down the severity of the injury and expects Wilshere to be ready to face West Ham on Sunday.

"He couldn't take part today because of an ankle problem he sustained yesterday at the training ground," the Frenchman told London 24.

"We don't think its bad at all but I haven't been told if it will be two days or five days. It's a matter of days."

Wilshere's teammates Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez also missed the victory over Chelsea.
