Max Meyer 'on Arsenal transfer shortlist'

Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer is allegedly being lined up as a replacement for Arsenal's Jack Wilshere in the transfer window.

Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer is allegedly being lined up as a replacement for Arsenal's Jack Wilshere in the transfer window.

Both players are out of contract at the end of the season, with extensions to their respective deals yet to be formalised.

According to The Telegraph, German international Meyer is being considered by Gunners chiefs should Wilshere fail to agree fresh terms at the Emirates Stadium.

Meyer, who has made 27 appearances for Schalke this season, previously cancelled talks with his current employers over a new deal.

Wilshere has previously stated that he is committed to the Gunners, although the English international has not made any attempt at securing his future so far.
