Inter Milan manager Luciano Perisic claims that Ivan Perisic was "conned" by transfer interest from Arsenal.

Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has blasted Arsenal's attempts to try to sign Ivan Perisic during the January transfer window.

The Gunners were heavily linked with the winger during the closing days of the month, but the Premier League side were allegedly not prepared to agree terms over a loan with an obligation to buy.

That has resulted in Perisic remaining at San Siro, and although Spalletti has acknowledged that the Croatian was tempted by a switch to England, he has suggested that the player realised that Arsenal had not presented "a true offer".

Spalletti told Rai Sport: "There was this story on the market, but he is a professional, understands his role and yesterday it was already a very different mood.

"These things happen in the transfer window, the player received an impressive proposal and was tempted. However, he then realised it was not a true offer, that he'd been conned, and took a step back.

"Now he'll resume training and as soon as his mind is back fully on Inter, we'll let him play."

Perisic was only an unused substitute on Thursday night as Inter lost out to Lazio in the Coppa Italia.
