Watford 'move ahead of Arsenal in race for Ismaila Sarr'

A report claims that Watford are the favourites to land Ismaila Sarr as Arsenal no longer appear to be interested in signing the Senegalese attacker.

Watford have reportedly capitalised on Arsenal's interest in Nicolas Pepe to move to the front of the queue to sign Ismaila Sarr from Rennes.

The Gunners were previously considered the favourites to sign the 21-year-old, only to instead turn focus to Lille's in-demand winger Pepe.

With Arsenal at an advanced stage to sign Pepe, the Watford Observer reports that the Hornets have started discussions with Rennes for Sarr.

However, it is claimed that talks could drag on right until the end of the transfer window, with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Leicester City also showing an interest.

Sarr, who represented Senegal at this summer's Africa Cup of Nations, scored 13 goals in 50 games for Rennes last season.
