Claudio Ranieri: "The atmosphere was very difficult"

Claudio Ranieri believes that the empty stadium affected Monaco's performance in last night's goalless draw with Toulouse.

AS Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri has said that the lack of atmosphere played a large part in his team's goalless draw at home with Toulouse.

Last night's game was played behind closed doors at the Stade Louis II due to trouble at last season's match against Nantes.

"We played very well in the first half," Ligue1.com quotes Ranieri as saying. "We played down the wings and got in behind. The only thing missing was the goal.

"In the second half, on the other hand, there was a lot of nervousness in our team. They rushed things and tried to do things on their own. The final pass was not good and lacking in precision. But it is not possible to win every match.

"On top of that, the atmosphere was very difficult. The players are used to playing in front of a crowd. But I am quite satisfied, especially because we might have lost at the end."

The point moves the Monegasque club top of Ligue 1.
