Barcelona coach Luis Enrique: 'El Clasico not on our minds'

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique insists that their focus is solely on their Champions League tie with Manchester City, rather than the upcoming El Clasico with Real Madrid.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has insisted that they cannot afford to have one eye on this weekend's El Clasico ahead of tonight's visit of Manchester City.

The Catalan giants welcome City to the Camp Nou, defending a 2-1 first-leg lead in their Champions League last-16 tie, and then host arch rivals Real Madrid on Sunday in what could be a season-defining week for the club.

However, Enrique has claimed that Barca's minds are only focused on their game with the Premier League champions, and he will be encouraging his side to play their natural game rather than sit back and try to frustrate City.

"There's only one match on our minds and that's the one against City. Not the Clasico," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"It would be dangerous to play a cagey match. Our objective is to win and play better than our opponents. You can't qualify just by playing one of the two games very well."

Barcelona have won 16, drawn 11 and lost two of their 29 European home ties against English clubs.
