Javier Mascherano: 'Job done for Barcelona'

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano says that his team will now focus on La Liga after beating Celtic to advance into the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

Javier Mascherano has said that Barcelona will now switch their full attention to La Liga after booking their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Lionel Messi's brace secured a 2-0 win over Celtic in Scotland and results elsewhere meant that the Spanish champions have made the knockout round of the competition as winners of Group C.

Mascherano has claimed that his team were not looking for a pretty performance, just to "get through" as they bid to chase down in-form Real Madrid at the top of the league.

"We came to get through and we have done that. Now we have to focus on the league," Mascherano told reporters.

Barcelona will visit Real Sociedad in the league this weekend before welcoming table-toppers Real Madrid to Camp Nou in the first Clasico of the season at the start of next month.
