Barcelona defender Jordi Alba emerges as an injury doubt for El Clasico after picking up knee and ankle injuries against Real Sociedad.

Barcelona have announced that defender Jordi Alba suffered knee and ankle injuries during the La Liga fixture with Real Sociedad.

Alba sustained the problems during the first half of the 1-1 draw at Anoeta Stadium, leaving the left-back struggling to recover in time for the EL Clasico fixture with Real Madrid this weekend.

A club statement read: "The tests carried out this morning reveal that Jordi Alba has bruising to his right knee and a distension of his left ankle.

"How he evolves will determine his availability for the next few games."

However, midfielder Arda Turan has been declared fit after missing the weekend's game.
