Barcelona rule out Super Cup trip to China

Barcelona express their wish to not play next season's Spanish Super Cup in the Far East.

Barcelona have revealed that they have no intention of travelling to China for next season's Spanish Super Cup.

An agreement had been reached between the Spanish Football Federation and a Chinese promoter for the two-legged encounter to be played in Beijing's Bird's Nest stadium.

However, a spokesman for the Catalan club has admitted that there are number of reasons as to why Barca are against the trip.

"Barca does not want to play the Super Cup in China for social and sporting reasons, because the technical staff don't want it," Toni Freixa told a press conference.

The match is played between the Spanish champions and the winner of the Copa del Rey.
