Michael Laudrup: 'Barcelona still in La Liga race'

Former Barcelona midfielder Michael Laudrup believes that the Catalan outfit are still firmly in the La Liga title race despite Saturday's defeat at Granada.

Former Barcelona midfielder Michael Laudrup believes that the Catalan outfit are still firmly in the La Liga title race this season.

The current champions were beaten 1-0 at Granada on Saturday, with that result leaving them third in the table, four points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.

However, Laudrup, who played for Barcelona between 1989 and 1994, has insisted that the race is still wide open.

"In football people make knee jerk reactions after every match," Laudrup told reporters.

"You still have to say Barca have a chance in the title race, everything can change in two weeks. When things aren't going well it's very easy to look at the dugout and say whose fault it is.

"The last results haven't been good but I don't think you can put all the blame on the coach."

Laudrup is currently unemployed after leaving his position as manager of Swansea City earlier this year.
