Neymar "progressing very well" in recovery from World Cup-ending injury

Barcelona reveal that Brazil superstar Neymar is "progressing very well" from the back injury that ended his World Cup campaign before their semi-final humiliation.

Brazil superstar Neymar is "progressing very well" in his recovery from the back injury that prematurely ended his World Cup, his club Barcelona have revealed.

The 22-year-old suffered fractured vertebra in the Selecao's quarter-final win over Colombia and thus missed their humiliating last-four exit at the hands of Germany in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday evening.

Medical staff from the Camp Nou have checked in on their valuable forward and have said that he is showing good signs in his rehabilitation, while explaining that he will continue to receive treatment when he returns to Barca for pre-season.

"The injury is progressing very well," said a statement from the Spanish club.

"From August 5 the player will continue his treatment and the final stage of his recovery in Barcelona."

Neymar initially feared paralysis after the collision with Colombia's Juan Zuniga, whose tackle went unpunished by FIFA.
