Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has praised Mario Mandzukic's "superb" response to recent criticism of his work rate.
The striker was dropped for the 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach last week by Bayern manager Pep Guardiola, who felt that the 27-year-old had not done enough on the training pitch.
Mandzukic scored on his return to the squad as the Bavarian giants thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-0.
After the win, Sammer told reporters: "Mandzukic's response on the pitch has been superb. Mario put in a great performance."
Mandzukic has scored 11 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances this season.
