Birmingham City have revealed that Stephen Gleeson's ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.
The Irishman was taken off on a stretcher after putting the Blues 1-0 up against his former team MK Dons on Saturday.
Birmingham boss Gary Rowett feared that one of his key players could be out of action for an extended period, but has now revealed that he could be fit for next Saturday's home match against Bristol City.
"At first we felt it was quite serious," Rowett told the club website.
"The secondary look was that he might be three to four weeks but now we hope, with a little bit of fortune, he might be available for the Bristol City game."
Gleeson was nominated for the Championship Player of the Month for his performances in August, but the award was won by Brighton & Hove Albion's Kazenga LuaLua today.
