Steve Cotterill 'willing to return to Birmingham City as manager'

A report claims that former Birmingham City coach Steve Cotterill is interested in returning to St Andrew's to replace Harry Redknapp, who he worked alongside last term.

Steve Cotterill has reportedly informed Birmingham City that he is prepared to take over from Harry Redknapp, despite being overlooked for the position during the summer.

The 53-year-old was part of Redknapp's coaching staff at St Andrew's last season, helping to keep the Blues in the second tier with a strong end to the campaign.

Cotterill is said to have felt let down by the club's decision to keep Redknapp on permanently for 2017-18, leading to his decision to step aside in the summer.

According to The Mirror, however, the former Nottingham Forest and Bristol City boss is now willing to return after Birmingham parted company with the man in charge on Saturday.

It is suggested that Cotterill does not believe that he got the credit he deserved for playing a key part in transforming City's fortunes in the closing stages of the previous campaign, with two wins from the final three games proving enough to retain Championship status for another year.
