Blackpool boss Lee Clark: 'Jose Miguel Cubero could have made a big difference'

Blackpool manager Lee Clark believes that they could have had a better season if Jose Miguel Cubero had been fit for the duration.

Blackpool manager Lee Clark has expressed his delight at the recent form of Jose Miguel Cubero and believes that the Costa Rican could have made a big difference had he been fit all season.

The 28-year-old recently returned to action for the first time since September after recovering from a long-term knee injury, and Clark was especially impressed with him in the Tangerines' last game - a 1-1 draw with Leeds United which halted a run of six defeats in a row.

"I just wish he'd have been fit when I first walked through the door, because judging by his Leeds performance he would have made a big difference to us," said Clark, according to the club's website.

"Obviously he hadn't played a lot of football so you're having to balance it, you don't want to throw him back in."

With seven games of the season remaining, Blackpool are rockbottom in the Championship and all but relegated as they are 17 points from safety.
