Davies "deeply upset" over Bolton loss

Kevin Davies tells fans he is "deeply upset" over Bolton's 5-0 FA Cup defeat.

Bolton captain Kevin Davies has apologised to fans for the team's 5-0 defeat by Stoke in the FA Cup semi-final.

The striker said on Twitter that his side, who are currently eighth in the Premier League, "deserved" the criticism. "I am so sorry to all of you who came to support us and paid a lot of money," he said. "I am deeply upset and lost for words."

The 34-year-old previously suffered defeat in the FA Cup semi-final with former team Chesterfield in 1998. He added: "The fa cup Is something I have always dreamed of winning, was hoping this would be a day to remember, now it is a day I will never forget."

This morning, Davies insisted that the team were now focused on their performance in the remainder of the season. "It would be easy for me and the team to just fade away but I am determined to make sure we finish the season strongly and with heads up."

Stoke go on to face Man City in the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 14.
