Mark Warburton: 'I'm ready for Brentford job'

New Brentford manager Mark Warburton believes that the time is right for him to make the step up to management.

New Brentford manager Mark Warburton has insisted that he is ready to make the step up to management.

The League One club handed sporting director Warburton the reins at Griffin Park on Tuesday, following Uwe Rosler's departure to become the new manager of Wigan Athletic.

Warburton has admitted that while he would like to put his own stamp on the team, he will not change too much.

"I'll change one or two things that I think need to be changed," TEAMtalk quotes the 51-year-old as saying. "But there's a lot of good work being done here so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

"It's the first time a manager has left Brentford to go to a higher level - they don't take your manager when you are bottom of the league, they take him when you are doing well. We've had a great run and we are in good shape.

"I can offer some continuity and tweak bits and pieces hopefully for the good of the team."

Warburton's first match in charge is against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
