Both Brighton and Cardiff are left to rue a handful of missed chances as they play out a goalless draw at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City played out an entertaining 0-0 draw in Championship action at the Amex Stadium tonight.

Both sides could have taken maximum points from the game as they each wasted a handful of chances.

The Bluebirds had the better of the early action, but Heidar Helguson could not add to his debut goal last week as he blazed over from close range.

Seagulls striker Craig McKail-Smith, more accustomed to match-winning contributions at the other end, was this time on hand to save his side as he cleared Mark Hudson's header off the line.

Winger Craig Noone was the Seagulls dangerman and set up Ashley Barnes with a fine cross, only for the midfielder to head over the crossbar.

Noone himself had an effort on goal but was denied by Bluebirds stopper David Marshall, who also saved brilliantly from full-back Bruno in the second half.

The result was Brighton's first point of the campaign, while Cardiff are unbeaten after two matches of the new season.
