Ashley Barnes keen on Brighton & Hove Albion stay

Ashley Barnes reveals that he would like to sign a new contract with Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Ashley Barnes has expressed his desire to remain with the club.

It appeared during the summer that the 24-year-old would leave the Amex Stadium, with Burnley known to be interested in his services.

However, no deal was reached and he has now turned his attention to being handed an extension to his contract, which is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

"I felt like I was getting pushed out of the club, but that's beside the point," he told The Argus. "I want to be here for as many years as possible, but I need to be given the opportunity to be here and obviously it's the people upstairs that make that decision.

"I am just going to fight for my career until the end of the season and hopefully get offered a new deal. I've only just scored two goals but I want to be here for a long time.

"This is where I see my life and my family is settled here. I've got a house and everything, so why do I need to move?"

Barnes joined the Seagulls from Plymouth Argyle in 2010.
