Sean Dyche: 'We have to be relentless at the top'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche wants his side to be "ruthless" in their pursuit of promotion after the Clarets went top of the Championship courtesy of a 2-0 win at Doncaster Rovers.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche wants his table-topping side to be "relentless" to ensure that they are not overhauled by their more-fancied promotion contenders.

The Clarets climbed to first place in the Championship courtesy of their 2-0 victory at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night - their fifth straight win in all competitions.

Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City trail them only by goal difference, but Dyche is confident that Burnley can continue to challenge the pre-season promotion favourites if they maintain their good form.

"When you're top of the league you naturally come over the radar, but we're happy to be a competitive side," he told reporters. "The obvious challenge is there are bigger clubs with bigger budgets but they don't have a guaranteed license to have success. We can be successful, especially if we keep delivering.

"The secret is, how many times can we do it over a season? We have to keep working every day. At the minute, we have to be relentless and as a group, we want to be relentless.

"The players, from the first moment we got back to pre-season, have taken a lot of information on, worked hard and been open-minded. All we can ask is that they keep delivering."

Sam Vokes was on the scoresheet at the Keepmoat Stadium, and he and strike partner Danny Ings have scored 17 goals between them in their 20 appearances this season.
