Former Liverpool defender Lee Peltier believes that Rafael Benitez will not let Chelsea fans' hostility affect him.

Leeds United captain Lee Peltier has backed Rafael Benitez to achieve success at Chelsea despite opposition from the fans.

The 25-year-old defender, who worked under the Spaniard at Liverpool, believes that Benitez will not be affected by the Blues supporters' jeers at Stamford Bridge.

"I'm sure he can handle it," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying. "He's a manager with plenty of experience and he's been around a long time. I'm sure he won't let that get to him.

"Anything can happen in football so Rafa to Chelsea didn't surprise me. They're a big club and he's a good manager, so why not?

"I was at Liverpool for 10 years and I worked under him for quite a bit. He gave me my Liverpool debut, so I've got a lot of respect for him. He's one of the top managers out there."

Leeds will host Chelsea in the League Cup quarter-final at Elland Road on Wednesday.
