Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge is expected to join up with Team GB today after overcoming viral meningitis.

The 22-year-old was a doubt for the London Games after suffering the illness a fortnight ago.

Despite concerns over his health, the former Manchester City forward has been passed fit by Chelsea doctors and will join up with Stuart Pearce's side following their trip to a Spanish training camp.

The England international spent a week in hospital and began light training at the Champions League winners' Cobham training ground a few days ago.

Great Britain's opening game is against Senegal on July 26 at Old Trafford.
