On-loan Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake brushes off rumours of Chelsea return

Nathan Ake denies reports that he will return to parent club Chelsea before the end of his season-long loan at Bournemouth.

Nathan Ake has denied reports that he could cut his loan spell at Bournemouth short to return to parent club Chelsea.

The 21-year-old joined the Cherries in June on a temporary spell in order to get some minutes under his belt, but he struggled to get into Eddie Howe's team at the start of the campaign.

Ake had spent just 13 minutes on the pitch in league games before starting in Saturday's match against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium, where he scored the only goal of the game.

Prior to the match, there were rumblings that Ake would go back to Stamford Bridge in January, but the defender has put them to bed.

"I don't know where that [Chelsea story] comes from. I ignore it and focus on what I have to do in training and focus on Bournemouth," the London Evening Standard quotes Ake as saying.

"This is the feeling you want after games you've played. You win and go home on the coach feeling happy. That's what I've missed and now it's back so I'm delighted."

Ake joined Chelsea's academy from Feyenoord in 2011, and has since had loan spells at Reading, Watford and Bournemouth.
