Carlo Ancelotti is being lined up by Chelsea to replace Antonio Conte as head coach, according to a report.

Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly being lined up by Chelsea to replace Antonio Conte as head coach.

Ancelotti led Chelsea to the 2009-10 Premier League title and 2009-10 FA Cup during his two-year spell in England, which ended in 2011.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that Ancelotti, who was sacked by Bayern Munich in September after an indifferent start to the season, was moving back to London as he looked for Premier League employment once again.

According to the Daily Record, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants Ancelotti to return to Stamford Bridge as a replacement for Conte, whose future at the club is far from secure.

Conte led Chelsea to last season's Premier League title, but the Blues are 14 points off the pace after 17 matches of this season, and the Italian has a strained relationship with the club's board.

Chelsea will look to build on their 3-1 win at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night when they welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
