Pep Guardiola is not a contender to replace the sacked Mano Menezes as Brazil national team coach, according to Brazilian Football Confederation president Jose Maria Marin.

Brazilian Football Confederation president Jose Maria Marin has revealed that they are not among the host of suitors interested in appointing Pep Guardiola.

Mano Menezes was sacked as the Samba nation's coach on Friday and reports have claimed that Guardiola, who is on a one-year sabbatical after leaving Barcelona in the summer, is interested in replacing him.

However, Marin has ruled out a move for the Spaniard, saying it is much more likely they will opt for a native manager.

"There is a very little chance it will be a foreign coach. We have won five World Cups with Brazilian coaches and I don't think it will be necessary," Marin told Terra.

Guardiola has been linked with managerial positions at AC Milan, Chelsea and Manchester City.
