Didier Drogba: 'I could have joined West Ham United prior to Chelsea move'

Didier Drogba reveals that West Ham United spoke to him about a move to Upton Park when he was playing at Guingamp.

Didier Drogba has revealed that he could have signed for West Ham United before joining Chelsea.

The Ivorian striker spent nine years with the Blues over two spells, scoring over 100 goals in the Premier League and converting the decisive penalty to win the Champions League in 2012.

However, he revealed that things could have been different had he taken up an offer from West Ham in 2002 before moving to Stamford Bridge.

"I was at Guingamp at that time," Drogba told Sky Sports News. "I'd just arrived at the club and they came to my house and spoke, but it didn't happen. I wasn't ready to go."

Drogba re-signed for Chelsea on a one-year contract last season, helping them and himself to a fourth Premier League title.
