Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard insists that he will not let his desire to become the club's all-time record goalscorer become a distraction.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has vowed not to get distracted by his personal quest to become the club's all-time record goalscorer.

Lampard moved just one strike behind Bobby Tambling's mark of 202 for the Blues this afternoon after netting in a 2-0 win over Swansea City.

The veteran came on as an early substitute for the injured Ramires against Swansea and set up Oscar for the opening goal, before himself scoring from the penalty spot just a minute later.

With current record holder Tambling in attendance, Lampard has insisted that the team must come first despite his determination to claim the individual prize.

He told The Mirror: "I try for it not to be on my mind because people are talking about it.

"If I'm confident and playing regularly and training hard, the goals will come. As a midfielder you can't expect to score every game. There will be matches when you don't but if I can keep my head the goals will come.

"It was nice to see Bobby. There couldn't be more of a gentleman to hold that record. I'd have liked it to come, of course. I always want to score if I can help the side. It would've been great to do it in front of him but it doesn't work that way."

Rafael Benitez's side are third in the Premier League with four matches left to play.
