Nemanja Matic is happy with his form and his life after Chelsea return

Nemanja Matic believes that he is a much improved player now than he was during his first spell at Chelsea, and is enjoying his second chance at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has admitted that he has improved a lot as a player and is happy with his form after re-signing for the club in January.

Matic was sold by Chelsea to Benfica in 2011, but was bought back just three years later for a much higher price, and he has become a regular starter under Jose Mourinho.

The Serbian believes that the time away has been crucial for his development and told Sky Sports News: "When I first came to Chelsea, I was very young and there were big players in my position, so it was difficult for me to play.

"Now I'm 26 and it is different. I have more experience and have improved a lot. I came here to show that I can play in the Premier League and for Chelsea. I'm happy at the moment."

Matic has played 38 times since his return to the club for a fee in the region of £24m.
