Matt Miazga pleased with Chelsea debut

Chelsea defender Matt Miazga eyes more first-team chances with the Blues after making his debut in Saturday's Premier League trip to Aston Villa.

United States defender Matt Miazga has revealed his delight after making his Chelsea bow in their 4-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Injuries to John Terry and Gary Cahill opened up a starting role for the 20-year-old, and the former New York Red Bulls defender was thrust straight into the XI at Villa Park for his debut.

"It was a good debut for me. I'm happy to contribute to the team and now I have to work hard in training to keep trying to get more chances. I found out in the morning I would be in the starting XI," Miazga told Chelsea's official website.

"It's my job, my profession and I have to be ready when I am called upon and show the manager I can contribute and help the club."

Miazga penned a four-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea in January after the Premier League outfit had an offer of £3.5m accepted by the Red Bulls.
