Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas admits that he was "surprised" by the resignation of former England boss Fabio Capello.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has stated that England will find it difficult to 'find a man with Fabio Capello's CV'.

Villas-Boas refused to be drawn on the reasons for the Italian's exit, however, admitting that it had come as a "surprise".

"Firstly it will be very very difficult for the FA to find a man with Fabio's CV, because he is one of the best in the world," Villas-Boas told Sky Sports News.

"Spectacular qualification for Euro 2012 comes to an end before the tournament, which is hard to take for the English national team.

"I am not in a position to say whatever triggered the consequences that terminated with Capello's resignation ... but all I can say is it is a surprise."

Villas-Boas took over as Chelsea boss in June 2011.
