Marquinhos reveals that Paris Saint-Germain blocked transfer talks during the summer amid speculation surrounding a potential move to Chelsea.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has revealed that the Ligue 1 giants blocked transfer talks from Chelsea during the summer window.

Thomas Tuchel's side were expected to bolster their defensive ranks following the sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham United, with Marquinhos strongly linked with a reunion with the ex-PSG coach at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Parisiens skipper remained in Paris for the 2021-22 season, and he has now addressed the speculation surrounding Chelsea's reported interest in him.

Speaking to Le Parisien, Marquinhos said: "No! It wasn't even an offer. In fact, the club blocked talks straight away. It shows the faith they have in me.

"It is an honour for a club like PSG to put such faith in me. The fact that others are interested in me means I am doing well. It gives me the motivation to go on, boost my training sessions and play even better. Paris and PSG are the only things on my mind."

Marquinhos has made 333 appearances for PSG since arriving from Roma in the summer of 2013, scoring 31 goals and winning six Ligue 1 titles in that time.
