Alvaro Morata reveals that he wants to stay at Chelsea and never sought to leave despite a lukewarm debut campaign and interest from other clubs over the summer.

Alvaro Morata has stated that he wants to stay at Chelsea despite a lukewarm debut campaign and interest from other clubs.

The Spaniard only scored 11 Premier League goals last season following his big-money move from Real Madrid and has been linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge over the summer.

However, new Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has given Morata a vote of confidence, and the 25-year-old is eager to kick on for the Blues.

"A lot of things have changed in our lives and the only thing I have in my head now is to score, score, score! Then to come back home and stay with my babies and my wife," Morata told The Mirror.

"The easiest thing would have been to leave Chelsea this year. I could have gone back to Italy. My wife is Italian, it is one hour to her home. I could have gone back to Spain, I had a lot of offers. More money.

"But I want to fight. I have had low pressure, because I had already played in Italy and Spain and done good things. But I decided to stay here, I wanted to."

Morata will play in the number 29 shirt this coming season in honour of his newborn twins, who came into the world on July 29.
