Jose Mourinho: 'Loan players could be sold'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admits that some of the players who are currently on loan from the club could be sold in the summer.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and striker Romelu Lukaku could be sold in the summer.

Courtois and Lukaku are currently enjoying successful loan spells with Atletico Madrid and Everton respectively, but Mourinho has stated that they could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge in order to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations.

The 51-year-old told reporters: "Chelsea made great investment in the past, and in some moments, were also a bit criticised because we did so much. But things change.

"Chelsea adapted well to the situation. When you see [Kevin] De Bruyne, who played three or four matches, give us a big profit, there are other players who maybe don't play a single match for Chelsea and we will look to sell them at a profit.

"We have had to organise ourselves in a different way. Before me, Chelsea did fantastic work in this level: Lukaku, De Bruyne, Courtois, Thorgan Hazard and Piazon. Not all of them will have a career at Chelsea but all of them are important in this new financial organisation."

Belgian keeper Courtois has reportedly insisted that he would want guarantees regarding his Chelsea future before considering a return to England.
