Thibaut Courtois 'demands guarantees' regarding Chelsea future

A report claims that Thibaut Courtois wants guarantees that he will be the number one goalkeeper at Chelsea before he commits his future to Jose Mourinho's side.

Thibaut Courtois is ready to tell Chelsea that he is happy to stay at the club once his loan spell with Atletico Madrid finishes, but only if he is guaranteed regular first-team football, a report says.

The Belgian goalkeeper is currently in his third season at Atletico and rumours suggest that he has attracted interest from Real Madrid.

He is yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea since his move from Genk in 2011, but his father, Thierry, told The Express: "We have a meeting with Chelsea and we will be talking about everything with them.

"It is too early to make a definite decision yet. We have to negotiate with Chelsea. Thibaut has been doing very well with Atletico but there are still three months of the season to go, and a lot can happen in that time."

The newspaper adds that Jose Mourinho wants Courtois to stay at Stamford Bridge, but is unsure about dropping Petr Cech, who has over two years left on his contract.

Courtois is said to be valued at around £25m.
