Jose Mourinho: "No chance" of David Luiz leaving

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claims that there is "no chance" of David Luiz leaving the club for Barcelona this summer.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that there is "no chance" of defender David Luiz leaving the club this summer.

The Brazilian defender has been a reported target for Barcelona for the majority of the summer, with the Liga champions having a £35m bid rejected for the 26-year-old.

A recent report claimed that Luiz had told the Blues that he had no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge and Mourinho has backed up that stance by saying that Luiz will indeed remain a Chelsea player.

"He is a player we want to keep, [there is] no chance he is going to leave," Mourinho told BT Sport.

"He is a player with four years [on his] contract, he just signed a contract last year. We like him. He is an important player for the club and the club is not ready to sell him for any price."

"The last quotes I read were Luiz saying he is not speaking about clubs when he is with the [Brazil] national team, which is a fantastic quote that I appreciate. When they are with the national team they are national team players, they are not club players."

Luiz signed for Chelsea for around £22m in January 2011.
