Glenn Murray hopes to continue Crystal Palace run

Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray hopes that his dismissal at West Ham United on Saturday will not affect his first-team opportunities under manager Alan Pardew.

Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray hopes that his sending-off against West Ham United will not stall his rejuvenation under Alan Pardew.

The 31-year-old scored twice at Upton Park on Saturday to help Palace record a 3-1 victory, but two yellow cards saw the frontman exit the action 20 minutes from the end.

Murray has admitted that while it is irritating to pick up a two-match ban, he hopes that he has done enough to convince Palace boss Pardew that he has something to offer.

"I have just been keeping my head down and working hard for my opportunity," he told the London Evening Standard. "I have waited a long time.

"With any club, especially a Premier League one, they will always get linked with good strikers. It is part and parcel of the job. The manager showed faith in me by giving me a new deal and that gave me a confidence boost."

Murray was loaned out to Reading for the first half of the season before returning to Palace in January.
