Derby County have reportedly been impressed enough with Kalifa Cisse to offer the Malian a full-time contract with the club.
The 29-year-old joined the Championship outfit on a non-contract basis after a successful trial and went straight into the team for Saturday's match against Sheffield Wednesday, which the Rams won 3-0.
"We are looking to get a contract for him and extend it as far as we can," Derby manager Steve McClaren is quoted as saying by BBC Radio Derby.
Cisse is still a free agent after recently leaving MLS outfit New England Revolution. He has previously played for Reading and Bristol City in England.
